La Roseraie

Yes! We have an apartment! And yes those are lions adorning the gates. (They fit in a bit better, than the ones in Phil and Julie’s neighbourhood.) The land was once used to house a big estate, but now is occupied by several apartment buildings. We are right off a busy road, but in a quieter neighbourhood of the city. Best of all it is about a ten minute walk to the beach and its chique boutiques and restaurants.

Now we just have to wait for the agent to get back to us on a move-in date, negotiate buying the kitchen appliances from the current tenants, and buy everything that is needed to make an apartment liveable, like a bed.  We are very excited that we actually have a place and are going to make a big trip out to Ikea this weekend to start stalking up on the necessities. It feels somewhat surreal starting from nothing again, but hopefully with a bit of time our new apartment will turn into a home.

I know that I have mentioned this before, but I can’t wait to actually be moved into a place where I can get organized again. At the moment there are multiple folders, papers, and various documents strewn about the desk and table in our residence. To find anything you have to rifle through everything. In addition to this there are things that I know we have but have stuffed into some pocket, or are tucked away into the bottom of a bag. For example, I only just found our poppies for Remembrance Day, which I knew we packed, but I have been looking for for the past week. They were in with my socks in a pocket of my suitcase. In addition to this, I have a pair of earrings that are still missing somewhere in the packing. I can’t wait to actually take everything out and put it in its own place.

The residence we have been staying in is great, but it time for us to have our own place. One of the most interesting things about the residence room is this:

Any guesses as to what this is?
